The Nicholson B. White Gallery of St. Paul’s celebrates God’s gift of artistic expression by exhibiting works of visual art. Over the past 25 years, the gallery has shown the works of numerous local artists in a variety of media. A gallery committee selects and installs three shows each year. Opening receptions are held for the public to meet the artists.
Now Showing: Spring Art Gallery Exhibit
The Spring Show is now on display! This show features work inspired by our vast natural world. Gretchen Goss (enamel) and Lisa Schonberg (monoprints) explore themes of plant life, woods, water, sky, and earth. David Fink blends colored porcelain clays into vessel shapes that subtly suggest land, seascapes, and the beauty of earth.
Join us for an Opening Reception on Thursday, March 26, from 5 – 7 p.m., with artists’ conversation about 6 p.m. Mingle with the artists featured in the Spring Show and learn about their creative process. We’ll have light refreshments and live music (Eric Paetz). Join us to admire and support the work of these local artists!
Peruse the gallery show at your leisure anytime the church is open. The show closes on Sunday, June 7.
Purchasing Art
Be sure to enjoy the artwork when you visit the church and consider purchasing something for your home! The gallery does not receive a commission from, nor act as an agent for the sale of artworks. This means that local artists keep 100% of the sales they make from their art! Pick up a booklet in the gallery for pricing and artist contact information.
History of the Gallery
The South Wing was constructed in 1990 to provide classroom space as well as indoor access to the Narthex. The corridor of the South Wing soon presented itself as a perfect space to expand St. Paul’s longtime commitment to the arts. The mounting of artistic exhibitions was envisioned by then Rector, the Rev. Nicholson B. White.
Over the past 25 years, the gallery has shown the works numerous local artists in a variety of media. Shows of work by members of St. Paul’s have been featured as well.
On May 11, 2014, the South Wing Gallery and the front vestibule were renamed The Nicholson B. White Gallery and Rotunda in honor of the fourteenth rector of St. Paul’s.
