Feast of Saint James of Jerusalem
Dearest Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church,
Thank you so much for the warm welcome you have given to me, Annie, and our children. Saint Paul’s and Cleveland have been wonderful; our time amongst you has been filled with joy and excitement. Thank you.
All meaningful relationships are built on trust, a trust that is slowly nurtured over time. We will grow into our relationship and come to trust each other more deeply through the natural rhythm of parish life: baptisms, funerals, weddings, praying together, serving together, and sharing our stories. Yet some intentionality is required. With this in mind, I am inviting you to join me for a series of Gatherings that will begin in November. My hope is that each of you will be able to make time to attend one of these Gatherings.
What are they?
The Gatherings are a series of get-togethers in the homes of church members lasting about one hour and a half. We will have about 20 minutes of social time with the remainder spent in discussion focused on one primary question: “What does your new Rector need to know?” Your questions are welcome. Notes will be taken at each meeting and published in summary form for the whole parish.
Where and When?
The Gatherings will be held in the homes of church members, organized by neighborhood as much as possible. The plan is to begin holding Gatherings in November and conclude by the middle of May.
Who is invited?
Anyone who identifies as a member of Saint Paul’s. Please see the times and locations below, sign up online, or contact Pam O’Halloran to reserve your place. If you are unable to attend a meeting near your home, please feel welcome to join another group.
If you have been away from Saint Paul’s for a time, this is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect. We hope everyone will be able to participate. There will be gatherings for the youth as well as at Judson. There will also be a gathering on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Church, where childcare will be provided so those with children will be able to attend more easily.
What we hope to accomplish:
- To help us begin to know and trust each other.
- To help newcomers and members develop relationships beyond the church walls.
- To learn more about the passions and vision of the people of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Pax et bonum,

The Rev’d T.J. Freeman SMMS
Seventeenth Rector, Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church
